Want to get involved in Grinnell, but don’t know where to start? Get the rundown on some local community projects at the next UnityPoint Health – Grinnell Regional Medical Center Senior Education program on Monday, July 2. Rich Dana, director of Imagine Grinnell, will discuss Imagine Grinnell’s current projects and activities.
For over 30 years, Imagine Grinnell has worked to improve the quality of life for all of Grinnell’s residents, helping to establish the Farmers Market, community recycling program and recreational trails. Currently, Imagine Grinnell is working on the new Grinnell skatepark, managing several "Giving Gardens," promoting locally-grown food as well as bicycling and water quality issues in a continuing attempt to create healthier people and a healthier environment.
Rich Dana has been the director of Imagine Grinnell since 2016. Before coming to Imagine Grinnell, he taught in the Sustainable Living Department at the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. Dana also worked for many years in the field of historic building restoration, and continues to create art and fine woodwork in his spare time. He lives in an 1870's farmhouse near Guernsey with his wife Ericka, also an artist.
