Moving at the Speed of Life: A Capital Campaign for GRMC
Grinnell Regional Medical Center is engaged in a $7.5 million initiative that will help meet the region’s demand for critical health services well into the future.
The campaign focuses on several areas that will have the greatest impact on our patients: building infrastructure, advanced medical technology, and patient comforts.
Modernize our emergency department. GRMC’s emergency department handles more than 10,000 patient visits annually. A renovation and upgrade of the ER will improve flow and efficiency. An ER is the front line for a community during times of crisis – from tornadoes to hazardous material spills and life’s everyday accidents. The proposed expansion with new equipment and smart design will allow for improved functionality. We must raise another $1.5 million to finish this project.
Create an urgent care clinic. GRMC opened Manatt Family Urgent Care on the first floor of the Ahrens Medical Arts Building. The full-service urgent care clinic sees patients from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday - Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for conditions that require immediate, but not emergency, medical attention. No appointment is necessary. This completed project was funded entirely by charitable gifts.
Enhance our chemotherapy and infusion services. Chemotherapy is just one of the IV infusion therapies offered at GRMC. We administer IV antibiotics, fluids, medications, and blood products. Our new suite, named in honor of the GRMC Auxiliary, creates an optimal healing environment for patients. We must still raise about $45,000 to complete funding for a new ventilation space in the pharmacy department to mix solutions.
Purchase state-of-the-art robotic surgery and CT equipment. The da Vinci Xi Surgical Robotic System is a sophisticated platform designed to expand a surgeon’s capabilities and offer a minimally invasive option for major surgery. Our new 64-slice scanner provides the opportunity for more diagnostic testing options so people don’t have to travel out of Grinnell for these important services. We have received partial funding to support both the Xi and the CT scanner. Additional gifts will replenish investments the medical center has made and committed to these projects to ensure amazing patient outcomes.
Renovate Postels Community Health Park to accommodate our growing wellness program. Postels Community Health Park is the new home of the Paul W. Ahrens Fitness Center. Wellness services are now under one roof for our 400+ members. The interior and equipment needs for the new PWA Fitness Center have been funded entirely with charitable donations. GRMC is still seeking about $100,000 in donations to address the exterior of the building. Our goal is to remove and replace the stucco finish, which has been in place for more than 40 years.
Establish an endowment for Grinnell Regional Mental Health Center. This endowment will allow GRMC to provide quality mental health services for decades to come.
Your Partnership Makes a Difference
As a nonprofit organization, GRMC depends on donations to maintain and improve our exceptional facilities and services. In fact, individuals, foundations, and corporations have provided all of the funds for GRMC’s two prior capital campaigns.
